Experience and passion for Sicilian terracotta

Our story

A story of artisans, which for two generations to date, with the inclusion of the youngest members of the family, such as Alberto Rocco, who works with his father and uncle within the company, remains one of the few industrial, handcrafted realities in Sicily based in the province of Messina.

Experience and passion for natural, eco-friendly, hand-decorated products.

La Fauci terracotta

Produced in two colours, red and straw-coloured, it assumes a set of characteristics obtained only by using Sicilian clays, which, worked with special care, can give our products good resistance over time.

To maintain the ancient traditions of Sicilian terracotta, the tiles have slight irregularities; this is not a defect, but a special craftsmanship characteristic.

It is also possible to request pre-treatment of the terracotta, to give it greater resistance to atmospheric agents.

Glazed and decorated terracotta, made entirely by hand in a wide range of colours typical of traditional Sicilian ceramics, aims to meet the individual needs of customers, who may also request customised decorations.

It is suitable for floors in general and bathroom and kitchen wall coverings. The glazes and colours are particularly wear-resistant.

All our products can be laid according to traditional systems with small joints or according to modern shapes with 8-10 mm joints. They can be laid with cement mortar and modern "glue-on" materials.

Handmade Sicilian terracotta is produced in several stages

Mix

After mixing the clay with water, the bricks are shaped. The brick is laid on the floor where it will remain for a few days, to allow it to dry and remove all the moisture it contains.

Baking

Then comes the baking phase, the oven reaches a temperature of 980° C, and then gradually drops.

Decoration

After firing, we move on to the enamelling and decoration stage. This stage of the process is just as delicate. The decorator performs the decorations using the old spolvero technique, with a brush on the raw enamel.

Second baking

The second baking always takes place at 980° C. The glaze melts and acquires brilliance, ready for installation.
